disposable tissue holder

再生紙をパルプの状態にして固めたティッシュペーパーのホルダー。無印のデザインコンペに応募して入賞した作品。未来のくらしに続くデザインというテーマのもと、その当時無印の製品群にティッシュがなく、無印から提案されるティッシュがあればどのようなものだろうと考えてデザインした。ティッシュ自体は詰め替えが前提で、ティッシュホルダーも再生紙を圧縮してできたもので循環される事を前提とした提案をした。紙のプレス等のハードルが高く商品化は叶わなかったが、またいずれチャンスがあれば是非実現したい。
紙を扱う技術は先人より引き継がれし人類の遺産です。そして紙の循環は持続性のある発展を可能にします。牛乳パックをヒントに、捨てるところまでを考えたティッシュボックスの提案です。シンプルかつ、つまみやすさや中身の見える機能的な形状をしています。使わなくなったらリサイクルへ。

This tissue paper holder, made from recycled paper pulp was awarded in the Muji design competition 2014. There were no tissues in the Muji product line at the time, and this tissue holder was created to fit with Muji's design philosophy: the tissue holder is recycled, refillable and recyclable. Taking a cue from milk cartons, this tissue box considers the point of disposal. It has a simple and functional shape which is easy to pick up and view the contents. When no longer in use, it is easy to recycle. For the time being the product remains a prototype, but it may be developed for commercial sale in the future. The technique for making paper is part of our heritage that was passed down through generations, but more research into paper pressing is needed for it to go into production.
