世の中にはデザインされていない領域というものがまだまだある。それは経済的な合理性がなかったり、社会的にマイノリティというのが理由だったりする。盲導犬のハーネスもまさにその一つだった。従来のハーネスは第一次世界大戦後にドイツで考案されたものがベースとなり、半世紀以上ほとんど同じ形状のままだった。実際調査してみると、盲導犬にも多くの負荷が掛かっている事や、ユーザーの身体にもハーネスが原因で深刻な影響を与えている事がわかった。そこでかつ人にも犬にも優しいハーネスができないかと考え、実証実験を重ねながら１年以上かけてデザインを行った。最終的にはユーザーも盲導犬もより安全にかつ快適に生活が送れるように、オフィス仕様のスーツタイプやハンドソナーと組み合わせたハンドルなども提案している。

There are still variety of areas of the world that are not designed. It could be because of a lack of economic rationality or because they are a social minority. The guide dog harness was one of those reasons. Conventional harnesses were based on those invented in Germany after the First World War, and they remained almost the same shape for more than half a century. The research revealed that the harnesses were putting a lot of stress on the guide dogs, and that they were also having a serious effect on the users' bodies. After more than a year experimentations, a suit-type harness "Lati" for office use and a handle combined with hand sonar was designed to make life safer and more comfortable for both users and guide dogs.
