TSUYAMA FURNITURE

杉・桧の産地である岡山県津山市の企業と連携して制作したファニチャーシリーズ。針葉樹の木肌の美しさを損なわないよう、シンプルな造形と面の構成でデザインしている。柾目を揃えたり、継ぎ方を工夫して強度を確保したりと見えないところでの工夫を施しており、職人技を活かしながらも、まるで針葉樹の森に囲まれているかのような優しい空気感を作り出す。国産材を使用し、新たな循環を生み出せればと思う。

For the region's longstanding woodworking companies, SEIKI DESIGN STUDIO has designed a furniture series named 'TSUYAMA FURNITURE'.This series is designed with a simple shape and panel composition to maximize the beauty of the coniferous wood grain, while also drawing inspiration from the rich woodworking tradition of Tsuyama City and the abundant resources of the Mimasaka region. Furthermore, it aims to generate a new environmental cycle through the use of domestic timber. By utilizing new methods of craftsmanship, we have made never before seen efforts in transforming our designs such as new ways of aligning the grain and devising new techniques for joining the wood together. This brings out the attractive wood grain of Mimasaka cypress and cedar while creating a gentle atmosphere, as if surrounded by a coniferous forest. This Tsuyama Furniture series was created to build a beautiful living space and contribute to a sustainable society.
